Výskyt
Rudé moře; Indický oceán — KwaZulu-Natal (Jihoafrická republika), východní Afrika, Sokotra (Jemen), Seychely, Komory, Madagaskar a Maskarény (Réunion, Mauricius, Rodrigues) na východ až k Andamanskému moři a Sumatře a Bali (Indonésie). Obývá vnější okraje útesových plošin, laguny obvkle s se dnem tvořeným pískem, koráli nebo sutí, v hloubkách 1-50 m.
