Výskyt
Jižní Amerika — Argentina, Paraguay, Bolívie a Brazílie. Obývá široké spektrum stanovišť od malých sezónně vysychajících toků s čistou vodou až po velké, kalné řeky, většinou nad písčitým nebo bahnitým dnem.

Druh pojmenován na počest Dr. Lúcii Heleně Rapp Py-Daniel, kurátorce ryb v Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA).
