Etymologie
Druh pojmenován na počest Baracka Obamy a Michelle Obamové, a to jako poděkování za jejich podporu vědeckého vzdělávání, rozvoje, genderové rovnosti a soběstačnosti obyvatel afrických zemí i ochrany přírody.
