Výskyt
Jižní Amerika — Cabo Pontoja, horní povodí Amazonky (Loreto, Peru). Obývá malé mělké potoky s černou vodou a písčitým dnem.

Departamento Loreto, Province Maynas, District Napo, wider vicinity of Cabo Pontoja, small forest stream feeding into the Rio Napo close to the border with Ecuador, Peru (about 75°12′W, 0°57′S).

Etymologie
Druh byl pojmenován na počest Wolfganga „Wolliho“ Friedricha. Wolfgang Friedrich byl jedním z nejvýznamnějších a nejzkušenějších profesionálních německých chovatelů ryb posledních desetiletí, dokud na začátku roku 2014 definitivně nezavřel své zařízení.
