Výskyt

Střední východ — povodí jezera Urmia (Írán, Turecko). Obývá rychle tekoucí toky s oblázkovým nebo písčitým dnem.

Typová lokalita

Qasemlou Chay, Orumiyeh Lake basin, ca. 37°21'N, 45°09'E, Azarbaijan-e Bakhtari, Iran.

Velikost

11 cm SL.

Etymologie

Druh je pojmenován po zesnulém Petru Banarescuovi, významném sladkovodním ichtyologovi, který významně přispěl k našim znalostem o rybách Eurasie.
