Etymologie
Druh pojmenován na počest francouzského zoologa Juliena Françoise Desjardinse (1799–1840), který strávil několik let na Mauriciu (typová lokalita) a daroval sbírku ryb (včetně typu této ryby) Zoologické společnosti v Londýně.
